Spring.

Usually this time of year makes me sad because I actually like winter. I love the snow and watching it fall out my window like my own personal snow globe. I wrote a poem called "a Winter farewell" that expresses that love. However, this year is different. I can't wait to get into my garden and play in the soil. I already have seeds planted indoors. I'm sure this is because I miss my mom and she always makes me think of gardening. She loved plants. She was actually here in Alaska to help me start my very first garden at my new house. Both my parents went with me to Lowes and helped me pick out what we hoped would do well. I watched her then just like when I was little- how gently she removed and "tucked in" the plants into their new home and then gave them a drink to help them get settled. I could tell she loved to garden even when I was little.

This year I have picked out some dark blooms to contrast with lighter shades in the same color families. I have some that are nearly black purple and dark midnight blues. I even have deep red sunflowers. Then I have pale pinks and blues and of course some white. I couldn't have a garden without my favorite white blooms in there somewhere. I bought some "moon flowers" to vine on my front porch.

Well, it's all still hard to picture right now and hopefully it will turn out as beautiful as I've imagined it.

Of course I did buy some veggies and the boys and I plant to have a nice garden in the back yard. Ry will plant corn and Jared will plant cherry tomatoes and pickling cucumbers. I am thinking about peas and herbs. YUM.

wish us luck!

Japanese prisoners are being mistreated!

I just can't sleep at night knowing that those poor people in overcrowded prisons in Japan are being forced to wear unstylish pajamas! Someone call Gucci and order something with some jewel tone stripes instead of the old drab grey. Oh but someone needs to tell those prisoners that vertical strips are best because they make you look thinner. You should only where horizontal stripes if you are a wafer thin model and want to emphasize your curves.

They also complained that their cells are too small and they wish to receive bread with their dinner instead of rice or noodles. Oh, and they don't want to receive their room service until afer 6pm.

Newsgram! You are in prison IN Japan. Do you think you should be able to sit around eating homemade bread made by Martha Stewart and learn how make a pancho????
